Margie and family,
Zeke brought joy to the lives of others. Your children were young when I worked with him at the Army Medical Department Center and School. He brought energy and and enthusiasm to our work environment. He cherished his family and spoke of you frequently. His smile was inspiring and he genuinely cared about other people.
May God be with your family.

Margie & family: You are in our thoughts and prayers. We are saddened by the loss of Zeke. He was a wonderful fellow officer and made my time at the 21st Evac a very memorable experience. He had a way of making the 0400 hrs alerts fun! I'll always remember him putting his watch to his ear to see if it was still working when we came rushing into PT at the last minute or looking at his rank to see if it fell off when we questioned a directive. He kept us all straight and kept us laughing at the same time. He was a great XO and he'll be missed. Marsha and Jim Langlois

To the Chacon family, I offer my condolences. I never met Mr. Chacon Sr. but some of my 1966 Bowie HS classmates did, who actually notified me of his passing. His son, Zeke Jr. actually worked for me at DCMA while attending UTSA. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Margie and family, Accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband. I know how difficult it is to lose a loved one. I just lost my son Ralph 2 months ago and it is a hard road to recovery. The only thing that keeps me going are the beautiful memories I have of him. May God bless you and give you strength.

Mrs. Chacon, I work at the Academy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam Houston, and had the privilege of working with Zeke during his tenure here. He was a natural role model for enlisted and officer personnel alike; his superiors trusted his judgment and insights; and the rest of us looked up to him as a mentor, ally, and coworker that got the job done but made sure we had fun doing it. I shall always remember him as a family man, a gentleman, a team player, and an incredibly nice person. You have my deepest sympathy and regards.
Respectfully, Hope Ruiz

I remember when he was Lt Chacon. He had just arrived at the 15th Medical Battalion, Ist Cavalry Division at Ft Hood. He was the first Mexican-American officer that I had the pleasure of meeting and I proudly served under him. He was an inspiration and had a great sense of humor. He was a great officer and a person I could count on for support.
My condolences and prayers are with his family.

My condolences to the family. He was my company commander while I was stationed at Fort Hood with the 1st Cav. I was there when he was promoted from a 2nd Lt. to my company commander. I had the honor of meeting his wife and mother during that time period. I even remember bringing him tripas from San Antonio because they were impossible to buy in Fort Hood. He was a great brother and mentor for us Mexican-Americans that served under him. My only regret is that I lost contact with him. God bless him and his family.

Betty and I are so saddened to learn of Zeke's passing. He will be forever remembered in our hearts and memories. We first met Zeke (and Margie)around 1973 in the 15th Med Bn, Ft Hood. He impressed me then and I was so delighted to learn he would be my XO in the 21st Evac Hospital in 1984 (also Ft Hood), He never ever failed to be perfect. There are so many stories and remembrances that they defy description. From the "bannister" story to his wonderful humor, he will always be there in my mind's eye. The attached picture is from 1974 at a Dining In. Left to right is myself, Dr Reggie Allen, Dr Joel Steinberg, Zeke and LT Don Pung. Rest in Peace my friend.
