MANUEL LIN Obituary

BMCM Manuel Lin USN Retired - A Career Navy Man, an intriguing person, a great husband, brother, Uncle, friend and father. He was a man who held a stately carriage that bordered on regal, but had an easy smile and he always remembered who you were. While one does not normally think of a Navy Man in this fashion, he was, surprisingly, incredibly easy going, and was always willing to give many kind words and advice. His philosophy in life was "I came, I saw, and I learned from you." He served our great nation in times of peril and peace. He was befriended and respected by his fellow sailors and Admirals "alike". A great family man, he always held perfection of character in high regard not only for himself but for all in the family. His family was large, consisted not only of his immediate family but his network of friends. He is survived by his sisters, Alicia and Josephina, Nieces and Nephews; Eva, Ceci, Carlos, Rudy, Greg, Anthony, Roman, Isaac, Laura, and Charlie; His sons Masayoshi and Mike and Very close friends Joseph, Albert, Orlando, and Natalio. His sphere of influence was more than grand and wished the best for each and every one of you, every day. You were not only his friend or an acquaintance but always significant in his life. As his spirit sets sail to join our Eternal Father, "God speed and fair winds, Master Chief Lin!" Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Martin Central with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

My condolences to the Lin family. I was a close friend to Masterchief Lin. We became very good friends a few years ago. I painted his car. He would often go visit me at Freeway bodyshop , most of the time to talk about our walk with God. More than once he expressed his desire to leave this world and reunite with his lovely wife. He felt purposeless without her. I saw in him a docile human being tired or weary of lifes journey. I often said God knew when he'd pick him up. Till that day, Masterchief id say, live as happy as can be. We talked, laughed and shared many of lifes phylosophoes. Every journey has many adventures that for the most part are greater than the end, that is, until youre greeted by God. Then a new journey of endless bliss comes to be. mastechief, i leave you with this poem..... Soothing is the cool autumn breeze, gentle the light on my soul as the Sun invites me to dream......leaves of absence.....

Mike, Grandson and Family: It is with sadden heart that I express my deepest sympathy in your great loss, but like it is said that God only chooses the very best. He is now resting in peace and having a great time with Yoshiko. May he have fair winds and following seas, until we meet again, Dear Friend. Pete Rivera, HMC (Doc), FMF, USN, RET.
