I worked with Dr May for over 15 years. I was in management and administration and he provided honest and timely guidance and advice. At times he was salty in his delivery however most of the time he was a caring, funny and dedicated physician leader. He cared deeply for his patients and didn´t suffer laziness or unpreparedness. His smile and his feedback filled my heart with respect and caring for this one of kind man. RIP

Dr. May was something else: brilliant, caring, tough, driven for excellence, and fun. His wit was dry, sarcastic and poignantly relevant to the situation. We had so much fun discussing the state of healthcare, staffing, the craziness of government bureaucracy and life overall. I loved making rounds with him and sharing great moments with staff and patients. Many didn't love him, however there were more of us that did love and appreciate him. Heaven is now his eternal home, see you on the other side Bob.

Bob May was a great physician and kind, thoughtful and loyal friend. He almost always had a joke to tell or a way to help you see the funny side of a mess you faced. But he could also deeply feel others’ distress. He and his wife together worked through all of life’s problems, I’m sure to the end. It was a privilege to know him. May he Rest In Peace.

Heaven welcomed a special person in Bob May. He was a fully dynamic man. A good physician, mercurial many times, funny, loyal and a wonderful personal supportive friend. God bless his family, know we loved him.

Blessings and Peace to Susie and all of Bob's family and friends. Dr. May was recommended to my parents as the best pulmonologist in town when we moved to El Paso in '73. Through the years my parents became close friends with Bob and Susie so I got to spend a lot of time in their company. Couldn't ask for a better match to our family in the areas of generosity, respect of the dignity of all mankind and wicked sense of humor than Bob. He and Susie and all of the kids will always hold a special place in my heart. Much love.

Bob and I were saddened to read of Dr. May’s passing. I also remember the days of the May, Fox and Buchwald era, first at Hotel Dieu and then at Providence. Always polite, conscientious and trustworthy. We often saw Dr. May and Susan when dining out. He would wave or say hi. The last time at Ruli’s, in early March, we stopped at their table on our way out and had a nice conversation with them. We will miss him. Take care.

My DEEPEST CONDOLENCES to the entire May Family. I had the HONOR of meeting and working with Dr. May, many, many years ago, back in the ages of DRS. May, Fox & Buchwald! I remember how he spoke so highly of his parents, especially about his mom, LOLA, who past about 1 year ago. He was SO WELL RESPECTED in the community, and let me tell you, when he gave you an order, you had better "jump & get it done"!!!!(as many nurses in ICU quickly learned). We admired Dr. May (Rebecca Reza (deceased) Dolores Reza, Lucy Campos ,RN, & other staff members. One day I floated to a Telemetry unit, and unknowingly, took care of 1 of Dr. Mays, golf buddies. This patient was hilarious and he wanted me to sit and talk with him for a while. Unknowing, who he was speaking to on the phone, I did what the patient had requested. Well, Dr. May had already been retired for many years, and he asked his friend who his nurse was, and he had his friend hand me the phone. It was HILARIOUS to go back in time!!!! I won't go into details, but he had told me, as he had always reminded me, if you ever get any lip from any of the other docs, you just answer them with this phrase, "That's why this office answers under DRS. May, Fox, & Dr. Buchwald!!!! Doesn't that remind you of someone we all knew & LOVED. Peace be with ALL!!

We would like to send our deepest condolences to Dr. May's wife, Susan, and his family. I was one of his long time patients for 31 years till Dr. May retired in 2007. Whether I saw him in his office or called him after working hours, Dr. May would listen intently to diagnose my medical problem and do his best to get me feeling well quickly. God bless Dr. May and you all.
