William Erskine Obituary

William C. Erskine

William C. Erskine passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was 96. Bill was born Feb 29, 1924 in Seattle Washington and was raised in Ketchikan Alaska. His parents were Alwin C and Hildred D Erskine.

He graduated from Ketchikan Alaska High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII in both the Alaska Aleutian and Okinawa Japan Campaign. In 1946 he married Mary Jean Hopkins and settled in Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1950, becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1951. In 1964 after 15 years as a CPA, Bill began 24 years as a university administrator. He was Chief Accountant and then Comptroller at the University of Washington followed by VP of Business Affairs at the University of Colorado, Executive VP for Administration for the University of Nebraska System, and finally VP for Business Affairs at the University of Texas El Paso from which he retired in 1988.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include son Scott Erskine (Beverly) Clive Iowa, daughter Nancy Barber (Dana) Grapevine Texas, granddaughters Tai and Quinn Barber, Natalie Frank (Adam), Megan Advic (Nihad) and great grandchildren Isla, Addison, Raif, Adis, and Hamzo.

A private burial service will be held at the DFW National Cemetery. Memorial services will be held later in 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to M.D Anderson Cancer Center or DFW Honor Flights.




William C. Erskine falleció el sábado 19 de diciembre del 2020. Tenía 96 años. Bill nació el 29 de febrero de 1924 en Seattle, Washington y se crió en Ketchikan, Alaska. Sus padres eran Alwin C. y Hildred D. Erskine. Se graduó de la escuela secundaria Ketchikan Alaska en 1941 y sirvió en el Cuerpo Aéreo del Ejército de Estados Unidos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial en las campañas de Alaska Aleutian y Okinawa, Japón.
