DAVID LECOUNT Obituary

DAVID LECOUNT David Laurence "Dave" LeCount, age 79 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief decline in health. He was born July 9, 1944, in Bristol, Indiana, the son of Laurence and Roma (Cole) LeCount. David was a 1963 graduate of Bristol High School. He worked in production at Delco Remy in Anderson for 32 years and retired in 2003. Dave married Carolyn J. Hook on December 5, 1964, and they shared over 50 years of marriage together and raising their sons before her passing in 2015. David and Carolyn were longtime members of the Community Church of Frankton (formerly the Frankton United Methodist Church) and also former members of Grace Baptist Church in Elwood. He was a member of U.A.W. #662 in Anderson and had been a leader in the Madison County 4-H program for many years when their sons were active. Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting antiques of all kinds. When he was young, he especially enjoyed helping his father on the family farm, and he remained connected to farming as a member of the local farm bureau. He also owned a tree trimming business for many years. Dave was known for his outgoing, friendly nature with everyone he met. He loved talking with anyone about just about anything. Dave enjoyed numerous family vacations and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, but his family is comforted knowing he has been reunited with Carolyn in Heaven. Dave's family includes two sons, Benjamin (Lisa) LeCount of Albany and Edward LeCount; 5 grandchildren, Ashley LeCount (Matt Ralston), Cody LeCount, Anna LeCount, Taylor McCreery, and Olivia McCreery; two great-grandchildren, Makiah LeCount and Kamden Whitesel; sister-in-law, Marie (Richard) Symmes of Anderson; nieces and nephew, Scott Benton, Luanne Conner, and Alisa Briones. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lavonne Benton. A funeral service celebrating Dave's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Bob Preusz of the Community Church of Frankton, officiating. A burial will follow in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrisett Center Food Pantry through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.

We met David and Carolyn at the then Frankton First United Methodist Church. David had a story about most any subject brought up! We enjoyed their fellowship in Sunday School class and various church projects, David always had a smile Happy to know he is with Carolyn again and enjoying the peace of Heaven. Heartfelt condolences to the family, and particularly son Ed, whom we also enjoyed meeting through Church They are in our prayers at this sorrowful time of loss.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Dave was a neighbor of ours for 20 years and always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. When he was able, he would always do anything to help out! I’m grateful that he’s with Carolyn and will have his health back once again.

Sending my deepest of condolences and sympathies to family and friends. I would like to think that you probably watched a few wrestling matches in your day as you supported your Grandchildren. Cody is currently my son’s Luke’s wrestling coach. Even though we never met, my hunch is that I already met you through Cody. Cody’s passion for wrestling and and developing young men for life is something my son looks up to Cody for. I will be praying for family as service details are put together and then blessings will come to all as memories are shared. God bless!
