Delores Gardner Obituary
Delores B. Gardner, nee Breeden, 90, Washington, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023.
Delores, daughter of the late John Breeden and wife Louise "Viola," nee Saak, was born Feb. 19, 1932, in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School. On May 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to James Gardner at St. Francis Borgia Church in Washington.
She became widowed in 2008 and remained at her residence until recently, when she moved to Oak Pointe Assisted Living of Washington. Delores worked for many years at Sporlan Valve and later retired from Edison Brothers Distribution Center. Otherwise, she dedicated her adult life to raising her four children and excelled as a homemaker and devoted wife to Jim.
Delores loved to play bingo and cards, especially poker, with her friends and family. She was a member of a small domino club in Washington. She loved visiting with family and cooking meals when they would gather at her house. She would make a variety of dishes, but her specialty was lasagna where one serving just wasn't enough. She also really enjoyed fishing, and reeling in that big cat was always a dream of hers. Delores was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Among her survivors are three sons, Mark Gardner and wife Cheryl, Desloge, Matthew Gardner and wife Lynn, Cortland, Ohio, and Mitchell Gardner and wife Dixie, Wentzville; one daughter, Marcia Jankowski, St. Louis; one sister, June Craig, Union; one daughter-in-law, Vicky Morgan, St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives; nieces; nephews; cousins; and loved ones. The family would also like to acknowledge the love and support of our parent's dedicated neighbors, David and Chris Dieckhaus.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Gardner; and siblings, John Breeden, Ken "Dutch" Breeden, Laverne Hasse, Dorothy "Dottie" Morrissey and Carl "Corky" Breeden.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home.
