Dorothy M. Schrecengost, nee Donegan, 91, Washington, known to most as ?Dee,? beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Washington at Aspen Valley Assisted Living.
Dorothy was united in marriage to George Schrecengost June 27, 1953, in Mineral Ridge, Ohio. At the time of George's passing, they had been married 65 glorious years. Dorothy worked a couple of jobs just to have something to do, Droege's warehouse and Carol's Hallmark. She loved greeting people with a smile, chatting with them and making new friends.
In her earlier years she enjoyed working in the yard, from mowing the grass, trimming bushes, to digging up dandelions. You could usually see her out digging up dandelions; no dandelions in her yard. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles; she could sit for hours working on one and always completed it. She could brighten anyone's day just by being around her.
Dorothy and George also enjoyed going to wineries and meeting with friends to play Phase 10 and dominoes and, of course, enjoying a bottle of wine. They also enjoyed going to the Landing every Friday night. Dorothy got such pleasure being able to help her children out to make their lives easier. She had a heart of gold and Heaven surely gained a beautiful angel. Her daughter will miss her tremendously, as well as those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter and son-in-law who adored her, Lynne and John Major, Washington; son-in-law, Butch Chinn, Naples, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Priscella Donegan, Florida; grandchildren, Courtney Burnett and husband John, Washington, Chad Major and special friend Angie, Union, and Alicia Reed, Union; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Nick Burnett, Washington, Waylon Major, Brenden Reed, Christian Schlueter, all of Union, and Mariah Schlueter, Washington.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband George; daughter, Debbie Chinn; mother, Letitia Donegan; and fur baby Cheena.
It would have been a beautiful sight to have been in Heaven when she walked through the pearly gates and saw George, Debbie, and Cheena, and embraced them.
At Dorothy's request, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to the charity close to Dorothy's heart,
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
