Glenn Bishop Obituary
Glenn was born Dec. 28, 1931, in St. Louis, the son of Laura Bishop, nee Lewis. On May 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Alice Gladyne Vest, and two sons came to bless this union.
He was proud to have served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, entering March 4, 1952, and receiving his honorable discharge Feb. 16, 1956, having attained the rank of AM3. During his working career, he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now AT&T, as a lineman and repairman, serving the company for 28 years.
He loved to travel, especially to Rhode Island, Texas and New Orleans. He also enjoyed playing the stock market, playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, or poker. After retiring, he traded cattle and eventually traded his stock trailer for a travel trailer. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. The love they shared and many memories they created will forever live in their hearts.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Alice Bishop, Union; his sons, Mike Bishop and wife Lorraine, St. Clair, and Todd Bishop and wife Evon, Washington; his grandchildren, Sarah Quick and husband Josh, Washington, Amanda Michno and husband Wes, St. Clair, Alicia Windsor and husband Max, Washington, Emily Bishop and fiance Tyler Kleekamp, Gerald, and Abigail Bishop and fiance Brian Unnerstall, Villa Ridge; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Bishop, and his sister, Delma Girardier.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Leroy Bryant officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.
Memorials may be made to Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements were in care of Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
