Joseph Lindemann Obituary
Joseph Edward Lindemann, 87, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his home in Union, MO, surrounded by the love of his family.
Joe was born September 23, 1936 in Moselle, MO to Louis and Mary (nee Ley) Lindemann. Joe received his education at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Villa Ridge, MO. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard from March 1958 until he was honorably discharged in March 1961. He was united in marriage to Jerrine "Jean" Overschmidt on May 13, 1961 at St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. The couple made their home in Union and their marriage was blessed with three children.
Joe worked at General Motors for most of his career and retired from the company after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment and spending time with his beloved family members and friends. Joe was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4667 at St. Clare Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union.
Joe was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie Lindemann; his parents, Louis and Mary (nee Ley) Lindemann; stepmother, Theresa (nee Straatmann); brother-in-law, Francis Overschmidt; two sisters-in-law: Leona Collins and Linda Rohrer; and three stepsisters: Delma Holdmeyer, Verna Vondera, and Lunette Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jerrine "Jean" Lindemann (nee Overschmidt), of Union; three children: Steven Lindemann and wife Susan, of Union, Stuart Lindemann and wife Jennifer, of Washington, and Julie Laurent and husband Ross, of Union; seven grandchildren: Kathleen "Kate" Kopmann and husband Jack, Josie Lindemann and significant other Adam Molitor, all of Union, Chandler Lindemann and wife Kate, of St. Louis, Gabrielle Lindemann, Emmeline Lindemann, both of Washington, Ella Laurent and Evan Laurent, both of Union; one step-grandchild, Alexandar Klienheider and wife Kelsey, of El Paso, TX; one great-grandchild, Miles Kopmann; one step-great-grandchild, Grayson Klienheider; sister-in-law, Dianne Overschmidt, of Union; one brother-in-law, Jay Rohrer, of Bourbon; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Union, with the Rev. Peter Blake officiating.
Interment with full military honors followed in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic School or Masses.
The Lindemann family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
