Joseph G. Schneider

1959 - 2022

Joseph Gerard Schneider, 63, Washington, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022.

Joseph, son of the late Isadore Schneider and wife Joyce, nee Sweeny, was born Sept. 3, 1959, in Kansas City. He received his education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School and graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington. He was united in marriage to Sherry Kriete, Oct. 5, 2002, at the Emmaus Home chapel in Marthasville, and they recently celebrated their 20-year anniversary. The couple made their home in Washington, and the unification of families was blessed with three sons and one daughter.

Joseph began his working career in the family-owned business of Schneider Auto Parts. The past 23 years, he was employed at Chris Auffenberg Ford in Washington as a service advisor. Due to his battle with cancer, he was forced to retire after 23 years of employment.

He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed playing poker, bowling, fishing, coin collecting, arrowhead hunting and helping others. The time he cherished most was creating wonderful memories with his family, friends and his dog, Moe. Joe's role as "Papa" was the most cherished moments in his life. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schneider; three sons, David Schneider and wife Missy, Spencer Neptune, and Parker Neptune and wife Leah; one daughter, Casey Wunderlich and husband John; five grandchildren, Chelsey Baur, Sammy Schneider, Owen Wunderlich, Leo Wunderlich and Matthew Schneider; two sisters, Nancy Adams and husband Frank, and Jeannie Eads; one brother, Mike Schneider and wife Tammy; one goddaughter, Scarlett Ohm; many other relatives and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Joyce Schneider; one brother, Marky Schneider; and his father-in-law, Ervin Kriete.

A rosary was recited Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 4:30 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington. Visitation followed from 5-8 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.

Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ability-Developmental Services of Franklin County (DSFC), where Joseph's wife is employed, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, are preferred.

The Schneider family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
