Josephine Dunakey Obituary
Jo was born Aug. 6, 1934, to William and Ann (Eddie) Sullenger in Lynchburg, Tenn. She grew up and attended school in Lynchburg, and graduated from Moore County High School in 1952. Later she attended college and went to underwriters school. When Jo was still a young woman, she came to St. Louis for a job. She then met and married her husband, Leo, May 15, 1964, at Jennings Church of Christ. To their union, two sons were born, Timothy and Gary. In 1972, Leo and Jo purchased property south of Wright City and in 1979 they moved their family there permanently. Jo devoted her time to raising her two sons and later, to watching her grandchildren. She loved it most when the family was all together. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Jo was an avid quilter and loved playing bingo. She was an excellent cook and was known for making and decorating wedding cakes for her family members and friends over the years.
Jo is survived by her two sons, Gary Dunakey and wife Susan, Foristell, and Timothy L. Dunakey and wife Rhonda, Wright City; two grandchildren, Zachary Dunakey, Wright City, and Samantha Brunkhorst and husband Jacob, Auxvasse; one to-be-born great-granddaughter, Hadley Marie, due October 2018; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo H. Dunakey; parents, William and Ann (Eddie) Sullenger; and one brother, W.C. Sullenger.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, at noon at Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service, also at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be held in Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, following the memorial service.
Memorial contributions, in Josephine's memory, may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
