Mildred Klenke Obituary
Mildred, daughter of the late William Schroeder and wife Clara, nee Weber, was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Washington. She received her education from St. Gertrude School. After graduating from 8th grade, Mildred helped on the family farm. She later went to work at KDK Shoe Factory and then International Shoe. On Nov. 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Albert Klenke. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter at which time Mildred spent her time as a homemaker. During this time, she also enjoyed being with family and friends, working with Klenke Catering.
In 1989, Mildred went to work for the Knights of Columbus Hall, cleaning kitchens one day a week for several years. In 1990, she started to clean the offices at Linmark Machine Products part-time until she retired a few years ago. She enjoyed being part of the Linmark family.
Mildred spent a lot of her time volunteering at the KC Hall dinners and also was in charge of the country store at St. Gertrude Parish for many years as well as social chair lady for the WCU. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Gertrude Parish. Mildred was a great person and wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be missed by many.
Among her survivors are her daughter, Joan Marquart and husband Mitch, Washington; grandson, Todd Eckelkamp and wife Mindi, Washington; great-granddaughter, Makenna Eckelkamp, Washington; sister-in-law, Romana Schroeder; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Klenke; and two siblings, Ray and Delores Schroeder.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Gertrude School or charity of donor's choice.
Arrangements are in care of Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
