Norma J. Gromer

1940 - 2022

Norma Jean Gromer, nee Ridge, 82, Union, departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, in Washington.

Norma was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Dexter, the daughter of Willis Wilbur Ridge and wife Jessie Cleola, nee VanBibber. On June 25, 1960, she was united in marriage to Hugh Allen Gromer, known to all as Allen, and two children came to bless this union.

Norma was a Christian and member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church of Jefferson City. She made caring for her home and family her mission in life and never tired of her duty. Norma enjoyed collecting dolls and going shopping. She also used to write songs and enjoyed singing. What meant most to her was time spent with family. The love they shared and the many precious memories they created will be cherished forever by all of them.

Norma is survived by her husband, Allen Gromer, Union; her son, Mark Gromer, Union; three sisters, Marlene Lindsay and husband Harold, Lenora Bishop, all of Dexter, and Ramona Plummer, Bloomfield; her brother-in-law, Cecil Gromer and wife Margaret, Columbia; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Jessie Ridge; her daughter, Stacey Gromer-Gabel; two sisters, Louise Duncan and Vivian Duncan; and her brother, James Duncan.

Visitation was held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and after 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair. A funeral service followed at 10 a.m.

Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
