Raymond Richardson Obituary

Raymond J. Richardson, 75, Washington, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Ray, son of the late Raymond Richardson and wife Millie, nee Thompson, was born March 20, 1948, in St. Louis. He received his education from St. Clair High School. Ray served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army. On March 11, 2012, he was united in marriage to Kathline LaPergola.

Ray loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gambling and skinny dipping in his back yard pool. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially his friends at VFW 2661. He was a member of VFW 2661, where he was a past commander and member of the funeral honors team. He was also a past exhaulted ruler at Elks 1559 and member of St. Clair American Legion Post 347.

Among his survivors are his wife, Kathline Richardson, Washington; two sons, Delmar "Chris" Richardson and wife Leesa, and Randy Richardson, all of Washington; stepson, Michael Gooch and fiancee Jennifer, Moscow Mills; siblings, Paul Richardson and wife Betty, Waterloo, Illinois, Patricia Mueller and husband John, Hannibal, and Linda May, St. Clair; grandchildren, Christopher Richardson, Kayla Richardson, Sybil Grannemann, and William Grannemann and wife Melanie; great-grandchild, Elzada Grannemann; sister-in-law, Margaret Richardson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Richardson; siblings, Elma Grotha, Gar Richardson, Mary Ellen Donaldson and Katy Adams; and four brothers-in-law, Dennis May, Jack Adams, Charles Donaldson and Bud Grotha.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Interment, with full military honors, was at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to VFW 2661 or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
