Roscoe Mesey Obituary

Roscoe Joseph Mesey Jr., known to all as Rocky, 72, St. Clair, departed this life in Washington, Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
Rocky was born in Richwoods, Oct. 6, 1948, the son of Roscoe Joseph Mesey and wife Mary Magdalene, nee Cantrell. On Jan. 9, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sheila Theresa Hare, and two children came to bless this union.
Rocky was a Christian, having been baptized at the age of 30 at Church of Christ in St. Clair and believing in the Lord as his Savior. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, entering Aug. 5, 1969, and receiving his honorable discharge March 9, 1971, having attained the rank of private first class. During Rocky's working career, he was employed at Daimler-Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, as a shop steward, retiring after 31 years of service to the company. He also was a member and retiree of the United Auto Workers, Local 136 in Fenton.
Rocky was a member of Elks Lodge 2561 in St. Clair, for 35 years, VFW Post 2482 in St. Clair and Four Rivers USBC Hall of Fame. He enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, shooting pool, playing baseball and softball. Rocky had a keen sense of humor and loved spending time on the river with family. He cherished the time spent with family and the many precious memories they created will live in their hearts forever.
Rocky is survived by his wife, Sheila Mesey, St. Clair; son, David Mesey and companion Malinda Scheible, St. Clair; daughter, Ramona Holmlund and husband Stefan, Stockholm, Sweden; one grandson, Elias Holmlund; one brother, Barry Mesey, Catawissa; two sisters, Taffey Mesey and Kimberly Luzynski, both of St. Clair; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe J. Mesey Sr.; mother, Mary Mesey Simpson; stepfather, James E. Simpson; five brothers; and five sisters.
Elks services, with full military honors, were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with John Baker officiating.
A private committal will take place at a later date at Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair.
Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James.
