William Carroll Obituary

William Dale "Bill" Carroll, 62, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, in Creve Coeur, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born Sept. 27, 1962, in Bakersfield, California, to Wayne and Sharon (nee' Klenke) Carroll. He grew up in Union, Missouri, and graduated from Union High School in 1980. Bill joined the Union Fire Protection District as an Explorer and began his 40+ years of service to the Union community as a member of the fire department. Bill became an emergency medical technician and worked part-time for the Union Ambulance District for several years. He was united in marriage to Anne Alberts on June 1, 1991, in Union. The couple made their home in Union, and their marriage was blessed with one son.

After high school, Bill began working for Mundwiller Electric. A few years later, he took a position with the Franklin County Highway Department. He enjoyed a successful career with the highway department for 33 years and retired in 2021. Bill wasn't quite ready to fully embrace retirement, so he went back to work for the City of Washington and was employed in the city's Maintenance Department.

In earlier years, Bill spent much of his time volunteering with the fire department. He joined at an early age and worked his way through the ranks to become an assistant chief for the Union Fire Protection District. For the past 10 years, Bill served as an active retired member of the department. Bill also enjoyed trout fishing, camping, traveling with his family, and attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He will be missed dearly and remembered for being a devoted husband, loving father, the BEST grandpa, beloved brother, and cherished friend to many.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Carroll Sr. and Sharon Carroll; two brothers: Wayne Carroll Jr. and Dean Carroll; and his sister-in-law, Karla Alberts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Anne Carroll, of Union; one son, Cody Carroll and wife Harley, of Union; granddaughter, Amelia Carroll; his sister, Wendy Griffin and husband David, of Union; father-in-law, Bill Alberts and wife Sue, of Effingham, KS; three sisters-in-law: Ellen Carroll, of Union, Linda Carroll, of Sullivan, and Ellen Alberts, of Dubuque, IA; brother-in-law, Dan Alberts, of Centertown, MO; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Visitation was held from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.

Interment was held privately in Nubbin Cemetery, Bland, Missouri.

Memorial donations may be made to the Carroll family (checks payable to Anne Carroll).
