Virginia Roe Grizzell

VIRGINIA ROE GRIZZELL  Virginia Roe Grizzell, 99, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at Countryside Assisted Living in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born April 25, 1925, in Washington D.C., the only child of Glenwood and Ella Roe.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy.  She leaves behind two daughters: Linda (Rick) Leagan of Edgemont, Arkansas and Diane (David) Thompson of Lead Hill, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Green, Justin Baker, Ginny Baker, Abbie (Aaron) Boll, Ben (Chelsea) Thompson; eight great grandchildren, Braedon, Cole and Kinleigh Johnson, Luke and Brooke Thompson, Gracelyn and Caroline Boll.  Virginia graduated from Penn State University in Child Development and taught preschool for several years. She and husband Roy lived in Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, Georgia and Arkansas, retiring to Monticello, Arkansas. She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Georgia, North Little Rock, Monticello, and Harrison, Arkansas. She had been actively involved in Women of the church, taught many years of Bible study to women and children. She was involved in DAR, Genealogy, Historical Society and Lions Club. Virginia and husband Roy were married almost 60 years when he passed away. She lived a full life and loved raising their two girls. For the past 12 years she has lived in Harrison with the last several spent at Countryside Assisted Living. The kindness and care from the staff at Countryside was a special blessing to the whole family.  A private family graveside service in Jacksonville, Arkansas at the National Cemetery is planned at a later date.  Cremation arrangements are under the care of Diamond State Cremation, in Lead Hill, Arkansas.
