Norada Wilkey Obituary

Norada Marshall Wilkey July 8, 1923 - December 24, 2018 Rancho Santa Fe Norada Marshall Wilkey was born July 8, 1923, the daughter of Robert Mansley Marshall and Mabel Marshall, of Laurel Springs, New Jersey. Her father was active in civic affairs, becoming Mayor of the town, and also head of the School Board. Her mother had been a concert pianist. After graduating from Collingswood High School, Norada graduated from Taylor School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and started her career in business. During the war years of WWII, she was a member of the Stage Door Canteen. After the war's end, she married John J. Sharkey, Jr., of Philadelphia. They were divorced in 1975. At that time, Norada was employed by the Du Pont Company and moved to Wilmington, Delaware to be closer to the office. She retired from the Du Pont Company in 1992 as an Executive Assistant to Senior Vice President Fibers. While living in Delaware, she became an active volunteer at the Winterthur Museum, Brandywine Art Museum and was a member of the Delaware Art Council. She was secretary and later President of the Skating Club of Wilmington. She was also a member of Christ Church Christiana Hundred, serving on the Alter Guild and heading the Freezer Committee for the Green Show for two years. While on a trip to Turkey in September 1996, Norada met the Honorable (Ret.) Roscoe S. Wilkey, II. They were married in April 1997 and Norada moved to Olivenhain to start her new life as a Californian. She was a longtime volunteer at the Book Cellar of the Rancho Santa Fe Library. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as Historian and Treasurer of the DeAnza Chapter. Norada passed away on December 24, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Norada is survived by her step-daughter, Linda Wilkey; her step-son, David Wilkey and his wife Holly; and two adored grandsons Justin and James Wilkey. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane Pastel; her niece, Debbra Tullah; and two nephews, Robert and Marvin Pastel. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 23, at 11:00 am, at the Village Church, located at 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067. Interment will be at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma in San Diego, California.
