Angelo Fanucci Obituary

Mr. Angelo J. Fanucci of Enterprise, formerly of Jessup, Pa., passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva following an extended illness. He was 82.
A funeral service with full military honors was Nov. 17 at the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, Peckville, Pa., with mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church celebrated by his brother, Rev. Santino Fanucci. Entombment was in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, Pa. Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise provided local arrangements.
Mr. Fanucci was born June 14, 1926 in Jessup, Pa. to the late Santino and Marion Comerota Fanucci. He was a graduate of Jessup High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Upon discharge from the service he attended Penn State University. He was employed at Garwood Industries in Exeter, PA and was transferred with his company to Enterprise, AL as a Plant Engineer. Upon returning to the area, he was employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot as a Time Study manager. For a short time before retiring, he lived in Hazleton and belonged to Holy Rosary Parish and was a Religious Education Instructor. As a member of St. John Catholic Church in Enterprise, he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, serving as their Financial Secretary. He was actively involved with the DAV, serving as Van Coordinator. He was the President and Lieutenant Governor of the Civitan International Club in Enterprise as a member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gloria Grove Fanucci of Enterprise; a son, Angelo Francis and wife Lawrann, of Mobile; daughters, Christine La Monica of Hazleton, Pa., CAPT Joan Parrish USPHS and husband Jeffrey, of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Samuel Fanucci and wife Shelley of Tallapoosa, Ga., Angela La Monica of Hazleton, Zackary and Luke Parrish of Phoenix, Ariz.; a great-grandson, Samuel Alexander Fanucci of Tallapoosa, Ga.; a sister, Sister M. Magdalene Fanucci, D.M. St. Mary's Covenant, of Old Forge, Pa.; a brother, Reverend Santino J. Fanucci, Pastor Emeritus, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, of Peckville, Pa; several nieces and nephews. An infant brother, Francis, and a son-in-law, Leo L. La Monica, preceded him in death.

Mr. Fannucio was a volunteer tutor in the Adult Literacy Program when the college was named Enterprise State Junior College. Those of us who worked with him will always appreciate his service to that worthy cause.

We are glad his life touched ours. We send our sincere condolences to his dear family.
