Ann DiMarco Obituary
She was born on January 4, 1930, in Erie, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Turify Skapura.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Michael Skapura.
Ann was a graduate of Millcreek High School and Slippery Rock University. She also attended Penn State University. She had been a health and physical education teacher in Erie and City and County Schools. She also taught social studies. She retired in 1995. She was the library manager at Erie Business Center.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and served as Past President, Recording Secretary, Parliamentarian, Trustee and Auditor. She reactivated the ACRY youth group and served as its President.
She was Past President of the Erie County Chapter of the Slippery Rock Alumni Association, a member of People for Life, Inc., PA Association of School Retirees, Slippery Rock Alumni Association, West Side Neighborhood Watch, and served on the Erie Water Authority. She was a volunteer at the Emmaus Soup Kitchen.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Nunez (Robert), of Erie; four grandchildren, Jeffrey DiMarco, Kassandra and Dimitri Nunez, all of Erie, and Alyssa Grucza (E-3 Airman First Class Anthony), of Abilene, Texas; sister-in-law, Florence Skapura of Erie; and nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Parastas service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 1123 East Avenue, Erie, PA 16503, or People for Life, Inc., 1625 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16502.

I had Mrs .DiMarco as a teacher at Fairview High. She had a great impact on my life growing up. I always had prom pictures at her house. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I remember Ann from my childhood at St. Nick's. She was a very sweet lady. My sympathy and prayers go out to her family.

My Senior year at McDowell (class of 1959) was Miss Skapura's first year as the girl's gym (phys ed) teacher. She introduced us to golf and also the pommel horse ( what an experience learning to vault over that!),also the parallel bars, and learning the "bird cage" on the rings, along with the old stand-by of tumbling, etc which we were familiar with & already knew how to do. Seems hard to believe how long ago that was. Reading her obituary, she lived a full productive life which also gave a whole new meaning to the words "girls gym class" to the McDowell girls class of 1959.

Ann is a beautiful women inside and out I will miss her dearly. Loved having our talks after Church in the coffee hour. God bless her and may she be at rest with our God. God Bless you Ann.
