Cheryl Lundquist Obituary

Cheryl Lee (Jaglowski) Lundquist, 59, born on April 1, 1961, in Erie, Pa., passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center on February 8, 2021 after an extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Leo Z. and Pearl P. (Sienicki) Jaglowski, and was the fourth of five siblings: Nancy Roper of Newbury, Mass., Edward (Judy), Robert (Mary Jo), and Eric (Amy) Jaglowski, all of Erie.

Education for deaf students was limited in Erie, so Cheri attended the Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. where she fell in love with the Theatre Arts. She travelled to Sweden as an international exchange student where she met and married her husband Mikael in 1982. Returning to D.C., she enrolled at Gallaudet University earning a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She soon after joined the National Theatre for the Deaf as an actress and performed across the U.S. She gave birth to their first child, Salomon (SAM) in 1995, and then enrolled in ASU in Mesa, Arizona to earn a M.A. in Fine Arts. Their second child, Alina, was born in 2000. They eventually moved to Riverside, California, where Cheri worked as a drama teacher at CSDR for eight years. The family then returned to D.C. where Cheri was a professor at Gallaudet in the Theatre Department. She was beloved by both the faculty and her students.

Cheri suffered from Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. She passed away from complications of this condition, with her husband by her side.

She is survived by husband Mikael, son SAM, and daughter Alina. She is also survived by a sister, three brothers, several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Due to COVID restrictions, a Memorial Service for Cheri will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the Lundquist family, at 7726 Old Woodstock Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21043.

Sov gott! ❤

Cheri was always fun to be with. We were colleague/partner in crime (because we were born 44 miles apart) We worked closely at School for the Deaf in Riverside. Cheri and I were next door at Career Technology Education and has been involved with many CSDR's Spring Productions. Our family and her family had gathered at many events. We will cherish our fond memories. Our heartfelt to her family; Mikael, Sam, Alina. Here is one of my favorite portion of this lyrics by Westlife:
...
Always you will be part of me
I will forever feel your strength
When I need it most
You're gone now
Gone but not forgotten
I can't say this to your face
But I know you hear (see)

I'll see you again
You never really left
I feel you walk beside me
I know I'll see you again .....

Mikael, Sam, Alina- you have a wonderful wife/mom. Cheri-sh her life in your hearts. We will be here for you with lots of love.

I love the picture that the Strom family posted. That smile is exactly how I remember Cheri's fun and strong spirit! She was a trailblazer and a brilliant linguist with ASL. She enjoyed life and friends and family. She believed in gathering together and sharing life's journey. She was so very proud of her children. She loved to show Alina's art work and to share about SAM's literature and travel knowledge. She and Mikael had a welcoming home and provided guests with good food and lively conversation. She will be missed. Mikael, SAM, Alina: praying for your comfort as you grieve.

I remember Cheri as a very positive, compationate and generous person. I attended a short course in ASL in Örebro Sweden at the local deaf Club. We were a group of hearing interpreters that she taught. My deepest condolences to Mikael, her children and all of her family

Thinking about her and her family, I wanted to share this little story:

Unlike most religions, Spirituality does not fear mortality.

While a loved one's passage is always painful, we don't shrink from the natural processes of life. The Wheel turns, and sometimes things must be let go.

We also know the Wheel will turn again, and things that have been lost will be returned to us. The form may change, but nothing is ever really lost.

Love you Cheri. Xo
