David Baniszewski Obituary
David V. Baniszewski, age 72, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He was born on October 19, 1942, in Erie, a son of the late Albert and Rose (Basil) Baniszewski.
David graduated in 1961 from Erie Tech High School, and proudly served in the United States Army with a tour in Vietnam. David was employed at General Telephone (Verizon) for 35 years and then LORD Corporation for ten years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed golfing, Western movies, and planning family vacations. However, more than anything else, he loved and cherished his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sherry (Carlson) Baniszewski; two sons, Marc Baniszewski, wife Amy, and Brian Baniszewski, wife Lily; four grandchildren, David, Spencer, Jacob, and Andersen; a sister, Beverly Harrity; a brother, Richard Baniszewski; his father-in-law, George Carlson; a sister-in-law, Jean Carlson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. George Church, 5145 Peach Street, with Rev. John P. Malthaner, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of this gentle man of integrity. God, Family, Country - he was a true role model for what is really important in life. I am so sorry to see David has passed. I went to High School at Tech with him and saw him last at our 50th reunion. He was always ready with a smile and truly personified the word Gentle man. I know he will be missed.
