David Reynolds Obituary

As Frank Sinatra's song says, "I did it my way", is how this special man lived his life. David Ernest Reynolds, age 71, of McKean Twp., died Friday, July 13, 2012, at his home from natural causes. He was born in Erie on September 24, 1940. He was one of three children of the late Ernest P. and Edythe Brown Reynolds. David was employed for 18 years with Fairview Paving and he retired from Blackburns. He graduated from McDowell High School and attended Penn State. Dave enjoyed helping others in need, raising animals, and taking care of his yard. He was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music. More than anything, Dave adored his wife and was a wonderful father and beloved grandfather. His grandchildren were his most prized possessions and the objects of his affection. He will be sadly missed by his loving family. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Estes and Rebecca Frick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol A. Boutelle Reynolds; and two children, Mark D. Reynolds (Julie) of North East and Linda S. Scharrer (Mike) of McKean. Also surviving are eight treasured grandchildren: Leviticus, Noah, Logan, Tara, and Abraham Reynolds and Briana, Dana, and Sarah Scharrer. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held there on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505, CORE, RIDC Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15238, or to the McKean Fire Dept., 5011 School St., McKean, PA 16426.

I am very sorry about losing Dave. Over the past ten years I tried several times to visit Dave at his house, but he never seemed to be there (or wasn't feeling well?). He was a great high school & college friend and confidante in our younger years. Hopefully we may meet again in our hereafters.

Mom,Mark,Linda-May God's strength be yours at ths time. Take comfort; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, Jesus Christ. May God Almighty craddle you in His loving arms filling you with joy, peace, love, and comfort, knowing as you serve Jesus Christ with all your heart, mind and soul; you will see your husband and Father again.

Leviticus, Noah, Briana, Logan, Tara, Dana, Sarah, Abraham. God gives children grandparents to love them, hold them and take care of them when they need it. Grandpa loves each of you with all of his heart. Even though Grandpa is back in our Father's arms, Grandpa and God will never let you out of their arms and will always hold you tight. Hold on to the love.
