Derek Coon Obituary
Derek Jay Coon, age 29, of Erie, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born on January 17, 1987, in Erie.
His family includes his father, Silas W. Coon II and his wife Christine of Albion; and his mother, Tammy L. Gehrlein Hodge and her husband Chris of Edinboro; a brother, Jason Coon of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Brittney Coon of Norfolk, Va.; two stepsisters, Christine Renick and husband Kyle of Edinboro, and Kati Miller and husband Chad of Cambridge Springs; and his grandparents, Jay and Ann Gehrlein of Summit Township, and Dorothy Whitman of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Silas W. Coon.
Derek was a creative and artistic individual who enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, camping, snowboarding, traveling, and attending music festivals. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Visiting hours will be Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. officiated by Rev.
