Edward J. Jerge

Edward J. Jerge, age 83, of Erie, passed away Thursday, September 29th, 2011 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, August 7, 1928, a son of the late Joseph F. and Mary M. Sheehan Jerge. Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Jerge Service Station, formerly on the corner of East 26th and Parade Streets. He was a member of St. Joseph Bread of Life Church, a member of the former East Erie Turners, the Zukor and Seibenbuerger Clubs. Ed enjoyed watching hockey especially the Pittsburgh Penguins. He loved to laugh and share jokes, as well as spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Pulakos Jerge, May 4th, 1993; two brothers, Rev. Joseph W. Jerge and John T. Jerge. Surviving are three sons, James E. Jerge, wife Sue, of Littleton Colo., David R. Jerge, wife Mary, of Waterford, Pa., and Gary M. Jerge, wife Penny, of Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren Renee, Eric, and Ryan Jerge, and one great-grandchild, Jonah; one brother Jerome F. Jerge of Erie, Pa. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and may attend services there Monday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Bread of Life Community Church at 10 a.m..
