Eileen L. Wieczorek Phillips

Eileen L. Wieczorek Phillips, 92, of Cleveland and formerly of Erie, died peacefully Thursday morning February 3, 2011 at St. Augustine Manor. A resident of Erie most of her life prior to moving to Cleveland in 2006 she was born in Erie on March 30, 1918 a daughter of the late John and Mary Stoffa Wieczorek. Eileen had worked as a cashier at Erie Restaurant and later went on to work at Brown and Jones Drugstore for several years in the 1960's. She was a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the East Erie Turners Ladies Auxillary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Phillips. Survivors include two daughters, Gretchen Phillips of Yonkers, N.Y. and Christine Novak of Rocky River, Ohio; one brother, John Wieczorek of Erie; and two sisters, Dolores O'Melian and her husband Richard of Florida and Judith Wieczorek of Harborcreek. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of prayer services there at 10:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
