Eleanor Bissell Obituary



Eleanor Chapin Miller Bissell, age 72, of North East for over 30 years went to be with her Lord on Saturday March 29, 2014 after an extended illness.

She was born on June 13, 1941 in Erie, Pa. to the late Norman and Grace Phillips Chapin.

Eleanor graduated Harborcreek High School in 1959 and was formerly employed at Smuggler's Warf, Erie Head Start Program, and worked on Camp Farms in North East.

She was an active member of the Orchard Beach Assembly Church and enjoyed crafts, creating cards, scrapbooking, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband Frank Miller; second husband, Gordon H. Bissell; a son, Daniel Miller, step-daughter, Melodie Bissell; a grandson, Christopher Moore, and an infant brother.

She is survived by her sons, David Miller (Cindy), Charles Miller (Billy Jo), Robert Miller, William Miller, and Frank Miller Jr. all of North East; daughters, Norma Wick (Mike) of North East and Patricia Moore of Erie; sisters, Margaret Morey (Perry) of North East, Jean Hainley (Harold Jr.) of Holidaysburg, Pa., and Virginia Hagan (Bud) of Girard; an uncle, Harold Phillips of Erie; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street North East on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Beach Assembly of God Church. Officiating Rev. Troy Keith. Interment Wales Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Orchard Beach Assembly, 2025 Orchard Beach Road, North East, PA 16428.
