Helene B. Konzel

Helene B. (Usinski) Konzel, age 87, of Erie, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center. Born March 16, 1925 in Erie, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Cecilia (Szabuleski) Usinski.

Helene was a graduate East High School and was the secretary of Konzel Cabinets. She was very active with St. Peter's and Paul's Bowling League and Knights of Columbus #278 Charity Auctions over many years. She was grateful for the excellent care given her in the last 13 years by her son, Kevin and his loving wife, Remy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen N. Konzel, Sr. in 1999; an infant son, Charles; brothers, Chester, Walter and Joseph Usinski; sisters, Jane Chrostowski, Gladys Rutkowski and Loretta Rafalowski. She is survived by sons, Stephen (Susan) Konzel, Kevin (Remy) Konzel and Andrew (Carla) Konzel, all of Erie; daughter, Cindy (Hughie) McDade of Florida; grandchildren, Kim Smith, Steve Konzel III, Ben Konzel, Allison and Jennifer Rogala and Chris and Victoria Konzel. Many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. George Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
