Iva M. (Parker) McDermott, age 78, of Erie passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at the Golden Living Center at Western Reserve. She was born February 9, 1932 in Erie, the daughter of the late George and Margaret Nick Parker. She was a graduate of Academy High School and had worked for her brother George Parker's restaurant, "Mr. Hoagie". In 2004 she retired from Scott Enterprises where she had worked in the Accounts Payable Department. Iva enjoyed her dogs, working jigsaw puzzles, reading, and especially the times spent with her only granddaughter, Sara Ann McDermott. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McDermott, who died in 1996; a sister, Betty Parker and two brothers, Earl and Edwin Parker. Iva is survived by two sons, Patrick and Keith McDermott, both of Erie; a brother, George Parker of Erie; her granddaughter, Sara; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St., Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and are invited to attend Funeral Services there Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
