My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I am a neighbor, but did not have the chance to get to know the family. I drive by the house every day on my way home and am saddened each time. She was truly a hero! I received this poem when my father passed away and would like to share it:
When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People disappear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up the grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time, when they're supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing windsongs, they whisper to us, don't miss me too much. The view is nice and I'm doing fine.

They say that people can never become angels; but it's hard to believe that God wouldn't give a halo to some one with a heart of gold, a hero who would put any ones life above their own. A woman who faced fire to save the ones she loves knowing she might not make it out her self. And a child must be worthy of heavens wings to rise up and look down on all those who cherish them. We all like to find the solice in knowing that even mere humans with a heart of gold can earn a halo and wings to match. These two lives were not extinguished in vain your memories will echo throughout this life time if only to remind us of how precious life really is and to think twice before taking for granted the ones we love. Rest in peace sweet Angels.

I met Jackie a few times and she was a very loving person. I was best friends and grew up with her son. He was the happiest kid ever, always loved his mom. Jackie, you will be missed. i love you all.

Rich and Pam..I am soo sorry for the loss of your baby girl, and your grandson. I know there is nothing i can say to make the hurt go away. Just remember what a heroic young mom she was to have gone into rescue her baby boy. My daughter Jessica, hung out with Jay and spent many days chatting with Pam. Jackie even though we werent the best of friends, you were always one I loved to see! You could always make someone feel good even when they were down. I just want you to know you were always one of my favorite people to see and hang out with when we did. I will miss that smile and great laugh of yours! From an "old" next door neighbor on French Street, I just saw this and I truly share your pain. I too lost my 25 year old daughter on 12/29/10 from injuries sustained in a car accident. As a parent this is so out of order you never expect to have to bury your child and as an Uncle dealing with the loss of such a beautiful niece. You both have my true heartfelt sympathy during this painful time.

To know Jackie was to love her. What a warm and loving person she was. Always with a smile and never showed if she had a bad day. Zac is with mom. I feel for the other boys. I hope the boys read these letters about their mother and know she touch all of us is some way. She is their angal and she is still looking over you forever. I didn't know this woman and her son, but this is a horrible tragedy. I am so sorry to the rest of the family. Mrs. Konkol was very brave and fearless to go back into the house to get her baby. A hero in my book. I am just sad that it cost her, her life.
