James Frank "Big Jim" Vaughn

James Frank Vaughn "Big Jim," age 65, of Harborcreek, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home, on Thursday, September 22, 2016.

Jim was born on February 7, 1951, in Erie, to the late Edward Vaughn and Rose Huber Vaughn Henneous.

Jim graduated from East High School in 1969 and remained in the Erie area for the remainder of his life.

Jim's family was everything to him and he loved them all. Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Char; his children, Jimmy, Bj, Jes and Vicki; his grandsons, whom he adored more than life itself, Aidan and Maddox; and his fur family, Miken, Callie and Abby. Jim is further survived by his brother, Ed (Kathy); sister, Pam (Dale) Snyder; sister-in-law, Sharon Vaughn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim retired from General Electric in 1987 and co-owned C.A.V. Dental Studios until he could no longer work. Jim enjoyed gambling, playing cards, bowling, fast pitch softball, golf, and watching his grandsons play little league baseball.

"Papa" enjoyed any time he had with Aidan and Maddox. They would especially look forward to math quizzes, watching Deadliest Catch, Swamp People and Alaskan Bush People, and sneaking snacks together.

Jim was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan and was able to watch the Indians win two games from the comfort of his home, with his family, before his passing.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Vaughn; his stepfather, Alfred Henneous; and his nephew, Jason Snyder.

The family would like to extend a thank you to all who assisted in providing care and comfort to Jim and his family at this time: Davita Dialysis, Great Lakes Hospice, UPMC Hamot 6 South nurses and aides, Dr. Matthew Testrake, and Dr. Annemarie Liszka.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. James McCormick. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated to Harborcreek Little League Baseball in honor of Jim Vaughn and sent to Bridget Burkett, HCLL Treasurer, 2672 Cumberland Road, Erie, PA 16510.
