Joseph Toscano Obituary


Joseph P. Toscano, age 87, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Erie VA Medical Center. Joseph was born in Franklin, PA on March 17, 1926, son of the late Joseph D. and Josephine (Orlando) Toscano.

Joseph was a news photographer for WICU television station for over 41 years, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Sons of Italy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella A. (Cassano) Toscano, two brothers; Carmen and Nazarene Toscano, and a sister, Mary Cassano.

Joseph is survived by his five sons, Joseph Toscano, of Erie, Vincent Toscano, of Washington State, Carmen Toscano, fiancé, Colleen Irish, of Erie, Anthony Toscano, wife Cindie, of Erie, and Perry Toscano, of Erie; and a daughter, Caroline Toscano, of Erie. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, on Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and 7 until the time of service at 8:30 p.m., with the Rev. Michael Kesicki officiating. Burial will be private.
