Kathleen Scepura

Kathleen A. (Kathy) LaFuria Scepura Devoted Mother and Grandmother Kathleen A. (Kathy) LaFuria Scepura age 64 of North East. Died Monday August 25, 2008 suddenly at home. She was born April 14, 1944 in Erie to Stella Wisniewski LaFuria of North East and the late Russell J. LaFuria. Kathy was a life time resident of North East, a graduate of St. Gregory High School, a very active member of St. Gregory Church where she was on the Parish Advisory Board, fund raising chair, and worked to spear head the Discernment Process. Kathy was a volunteer at St. Gregory School and active in the Cursillo movement. Kathy was formerly employed at Welch Foods as a Filler Operator for 28 years before retiring in 2000, also a member of the Board of Directors at Welch Credit Union. Most importantly , Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She was also preceded in death by a brother Sam LaFuria and a sister-in-law Tina LaFuria. Besides her mother she is survived by a daughter Kelly Montefiori and her husband Tony of North East, son Richard Charles Scepura of North East, brothers Stan LaFuria and his wife Lois, Russell LaFuria and his wife Joby and Anthony LaFuria, sister Carmella Manges and her husband Carl, sister-in-law Fran LaFuria, grandchildren Tony, Sam, Katie and Anne Montefiori all of North East. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home 65 South Lake St. North East on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 and are invited to attend Prayer services on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory Church at 10:30.
