Lisa Gallagher Obituary
Lisa E. Smith Gallagher, age 49, of Girard, formerly of Millcreek Township, passed away peacefully at her residence, on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born in Erie on March 15, 1965, the daughter of Mary Ann Bucklin Smith of Erie and the late James A. Smith.
Lisa was a graduate of Tech Memorial H.S. and was employed at Mayer Bros. Construction for over twenty years. She was a member of Local 603 Labor Union for 22 years.
Lisa enjoyed and loved her family very much.
Besides her mother, Lisa is survived by six children: Nicole Ryzner (Jared) of Little Elm, Texas, Katelyn Gallagher, Sean M. Gallagher, Meghan Gallagher, Duffy Gallagher, and Jack Gallagher, all of Millcreek Township, two grandchildren: Jameson and Emerson Ryzner, three sisters: Laurie Ganska (LeRoy) of Erie, Sandy LaRock (Scott) of Erie, Marnie Pjecha (Joseph) of Meadville, Pa., two brothers: James A. Smith (Paula) of Harborcreek, John S. Smith (Shannon) of McKean Township, her former husband and father to the children, Michael F. Gallagher, of Millcreek and her fiancé, Alan W. Mayes of Girard, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Lisa was preceded in death by one cousin, Pam Sholvin.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited there on Monday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., conducted by her brother-in-law, the Rev. Joseph Pjecha. Interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, Duke University Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.

My heart is filled with sadness for your entire family. I lived in Erie from 1990-1992. I did not know many people. Lisa and Mike made me feel like family. Lisa and I spent a lot of time together. She was wickedly funny. I have so many wonderful memories. She was also a true friend. I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without her. She was an amazing person and I am grateful to have know her.
