Louis Guilianelli Obituary

Louis A. Guilianelli Louis A. Guilianelli, 65, of 1300 Hardscrabble Blvd., died Tuesday, August 19 at Saint Vincent Health Center after an extended illness. He was born August 10, 1943 in Erie, a son of Hilda Cargioli Guilianelli of Erie, and the late Wilson Guilianelli. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School Class of 1962 and received both his bachelor and master degrees in education from Edinboro University. He worked as a teacher in the Erie School District for 33 years at Glenwood and Lincoln Elementary Schools. He also taught Title I Math. He was active in coaching at elementary and high school levels and was an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Elks Club and a life time member of the Erie Maennerchor Club. He is survived by a daughter, Amy Smigel, and her husband, Austin, of Bath, N.C.; one son, David Guilianelli, of Cleveland, Ohio; beloved friend, Barbara Bruskevith, and her children, Ryan and Tamara Bruskevith, all of Erie, and JoAnn S. Guilianelli of Erie; two brothers, Wilson Guilianelli and his wife, Joan, of Chicago, Ill., and James Guilianelli and his friend, Ron Johnson, of Newburgh, N.Y.; one sister, Marie Matlak, and her husband, Rich, of Erie; and a sister-in-law, Sue Guilianelli, of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Mason and Tess Smigel; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry St., on Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
