Michael Bisbee Obituary

Michael R. Bisbee, age 50, Waterford Township resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born in Rome, N.Y. on December 17, 1962, Mike is the son of Dale Bisbee of Erie and Wanda Jones Landis of Waterford. He married Shannon Landis Bisbee in 1997 and she survives.

Mike graduated from Iroquois High School in 1981 and served in the United States Army for eight years until he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was currently employed with the City of Erie as a Building Maintenance Supervisor. He worked there for almost 20 years and was a skilled carpenter. In high school, Mike was a wrestler, and while in the military, he was an accomplished boxer, winning many trophies. He really enjoyed anything outdoors--hiking, campfires, four-wheeling, swimming, gardening; and he loved animals and having unique animals for pets. Mike loved his wife and children and enjoyed holidays and family gatherings.

Family members that mourn his loss include his wife, Shannon Bisbee; children -- Christina Al Shear and husband, Zach of Colorado, Chris Bisbee of Erie, Cassandra Bisbee of Millcreek, Brandi Bisbee of Erie, and Destiny Bisbee and Hunter Bisbee, both of Waterford; his parents -- Dale Bisbee and wife, Sara of Erie, and Wanda Landis and husband, Jerry of Waterford; a brother -- Dale Bisbee II and wife, Tanya; and a sister -- Tammy Elder and husband, Curt, all of Waterford; also, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 105 Walnut Street, Waterford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place there Monday at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Greg Jack, pastor of the Waterford Church of the Nazarene.

Mike is one of those great people you could hardly forget. He lived with such a zest for life - present in each moment far more often than most could ever hope to be. Carpe Diem, brother. You were a leader, a mentor and a friend - a big brother I never had growing up. Lots of love to your family and many friends, who I'm sure still miss you today.

Thank you mike for everything you've taught me. You were the best dad to hunter and destiny and such a hard worker. You were always giving me advice and having a positive attitude. The first time I ever went hiking was with you! You taught me a lot about being strong. You also taught your family to be strong and they are doing just that. R.I.P. God bless you

Mike My Dear Son,
I was so proud of you always. I was blessed when you were born. My heart is breaking, but it's also filled to overflowing pride and happiness, to know I wasn't the only one who loved you. You we're a s0n who stood out as a respected, kind, and loving man, father, husband co-worker.
I called you my little King. My last words to you we're the day you left us. I said," I love you son and carry my love with you always". How strange to have said that, like that. I guess God guided my words, as He knew what you needed to hear and I to remember. How great is God and His mercy. You are safe my son, with the Father. I believe it and that settles it. Tell all our loved ones who passed hello. I'll be seeing you, in all your lovely children and everything good and beautiful you loved.

Bisbee Family: I am so sorry to hear of your loss, especially considering the circumstances!! Please know I am here if you need ANYTHING!!! I know EXACTLY what you are feeling!! I have many fond memories of Uncle Mike, and he will be missed but never forgotten! The only way to make it through this is to carry on and always remember the positive times...know that he is in a much better place now. Nothing anyone says will ease the pain, just know you aren't alone! In time it will get easier. Much love, thoughts, and prayers are being sent your way!!! XOXOXOXOXOXO

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
