Pearl Martin Obituary

Pearl S. Zielinski Martin, 89, of Erie, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born February 10, 1929 in Erie, a daughter of the late Tomas and Frances Wojciechowski Zielinski.

Pearl and her husband Joseph owned and operated Martin's Superette for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Martin; five brothers; two sisters, and a granddaughter, Shelby Peters Parnell.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane J. Peters, Denise J. Duke, Debbie J. Troutman (Richard); and one son, David J. Martin, all of Erie. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Matthew Peters, Jason Martin, Tammy Connelly, Chandra Burns and Rachel Sophia Rivera, and nine great-grandchildren, Carter, Joshua, Jack, McKenna, Finley, Allison, Avalia, Colton and Estella.

We lovingly honor and cherish the life and legacy of a woman full of love, laughter, and spirit. All who knew her will deeply miss her because she inspired such warmth and brought smiles wherever she went. Her love and hard work are the pillars of our family and have established strength and beauty to all our generations. Her adoration poured into her family, and she imparted just as much sunshine to her grandkids and great-grandkids as they did to her. We rest in her love and memories and rejoice that she is now in perfection in the arms of the Healer, our Savior.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until the time of service there at 8:00 p.m.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Just wanted to let all of you know I'm thinking about you, especially Dave and Jason. I didn't get to know Pearl very well, but I know she was a good Mother and Grandmother.
