Ralph Haskins Obituary

Ralph A. Haskins, 92, of Forrest Ridge, in Sheffield Township, died Sunday (July 18th) at Park Haven Nursing Home in Ashtabula. He was born November 21, 1917 in Erie, Pa., the son of Lawrence and Edwina (Holland) Haskins. He was a graduate of East High School in Erie and Rutgers Business School. He joined the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a pilot, First Lieutenant and also was a flight instructor. Ralph at one time owned the Kozy Kitchen in Kingsville, The Applewood Restaurant in Geneva and The Unionville Tavern in Unionville. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula; the Ashtabula Yacht Club; the BPOE of Ashtabula; the Moose Lodge and the Masonic order. In his later years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle across country. Surviving him is a son, Gary (Nancy Mudd) Haskins, of Ashtabula; two daughters, Barbara Wagner, of Ashtabula, and Christine (David) Lehnert, of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Ryan Haskins, Zach Haskins, Tyler Haskins, Sean Ollila, Dr. Chad Ollila, Ashley Lehnert, and Molly Lehnert; and two great-grandchildren, Case and Carson. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Haskins; and his wife, Janet E. Haskins in 2008. There will be a private funeral service for Mr. Haskin with burial at Gageville Cemetery in Sheffield Township. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
