Rita Murosky Niemi

1927 - 2018

Rita Murosky Niemi, age 91, formerly of Millcreek, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018, in Annapolis, Md.

She was born in Erie, on August 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen Bukowski Murosky.

She attended Holy Rosary and St. John's Grade School, graduated from Academy High School, and was a former member the Asbury Community Seniors, St. Julia's Altar Rosary Society, Erie Center Health & Aging, and the Salvation Army Seniors. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at General Electric Company and later at Trask's Department Store for several years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Niemi in 2001; and brothers Arthur Murosky and Edward Murosky of Erie, and Harry Murosky of Raleigh, N.C.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Niemi and his wife, Suzanne Niemi of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; and her sister, Marian Kubeja of Erie. She is further survived by grandchildren, Jeffrey Niemi, Kristin Niemi, and Sarah Dionne; also great grandchildren, Ruby Niemi, Hazel and Cora Dionne; as well as and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Avenue), on Friday, October 19th, from 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend her service on Saturday, October 20th, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
