Alverna Marjorie Munson, age 105 years, of rural Newark, IL died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

She was born April 19, 1912 in rural Newark, IL the daughter of the late Randall E and Julia C nee Anderson Devick. Alverna was a lifelong devoted member of Helmar Lutheran Church, where she had served on the board as well as many other functions/committees within the church. She served on the Board of Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa, IL. She was a graduate of Copley Hospital's School of Nursing Class of 1932. She was a member of the Copley Nurses Alumni. She was a nurse in the office of Dr. L.A. Wunch in Yorkville, IL for 35 years prior to her retirement, from there. She continued nursing doing private duty care for patients up until she celebrated her 95th birthday. Her entire life revolved around her family, church and nursing.

Alverna is survived by her brother, Royce (Gayle) Devick of Oak Brook, IL; also many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death also by two husbands, Roy Renner, Clair Munson; three sisters, Maureen Cryder, Muriel Robinson, Elsie Mae Devick; two brothers, Lyle Devick and Randall Devick.

Visitation took place on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Helmar Lutheran Church 11935 Lisbon Rd, Newark, IL 60541. Interment took place at the Helmar Lutheran Cemetery.
