Susan E. Lavins

Susan E. Lavins, age 85, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, in Beachwood, Ohio. She was born in Carmichaels, Pa., on November 20, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph Tasker and Violet Nicholson Tasker.

She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Sarah Circle and was a volunteer cook for over 20 years for the Keenager's where she became a mentor to many of the younger women in the church.

Susan volunteered for 20 years with the Salvation Army Center. She was active with the Gospel Hill Garden Club, Wesleyville Little League, Boy Scouts, PTA and was a Navy wife. She was an avid gardener who nurtured her beautiful gardens and also volunteered for the Cleveland Metro Parks.

Sue's lifelong commitment to volunteering touched many lives. Her endless kindness and enduring generosity will be forever remembered and cherished.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Wally Lavins; her brother, James Tasker; and two sisters, Faye Gehringer and Wilma Williams.

She is survived by son, Eric Lavins (Kathy); and grandchildren, Bethany and Gregory Lavins, all of Solon, Ohio; and son, Cirk Lavins, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Pamela Gardner of Wesley United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, at 3308 South St., Erie PA 16510, or to the Salvation Army Service Center, at 1022 Liberty St., Erie, PA 16502.
