Eugene Thomas 'Gene' Engler BANGOR Eugene Thomas "Gene" Engler, 66, of Bangor, PA went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 11th, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Gene was born in Easton, PA on December 1, 1954, a son of Francis J. Engler, Sr., of Bangor, PA, and the late Kathryn (James) Engler. Gene was a self-employed general contractor with a reputation for being very knowledgeable, trustworthy, and always willing to help a neighbor in need. He was also appreciated for his trademark sense of humor. He was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1972. Gene welcomed challenges of a mechanical, earthly nature and built his own unique log home and farmstead. However, his Christian faith was foremost in his life. He enjoyed attending various churches and often liked to share his spiritual experience with others. In addition to his father, Francis Sr., Gene is survived by three sisters, Linda Herczeg, wife of Gary, of Bethlehem, PA; Nancy Rutt, wife of Robert, of Stroudsburg, PA; Cindy Stocker, companion of Edward W. Pilz, of Bangor, PA; a brother, Francis J Engler, Jr., husband of Cynthia, of Bangor, PA; a sister-in-law, Sheree Engler; seven nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn (James) Engler, and a brother Edward Engler. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 31st at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Broadway, Bangor, PA. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, July 31st at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the Family.
