NAZARETH Hugh J. McFarland, 72, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of the late Linda L. (Nagy) McFarland, with whom he shared 27 years until her passing on November 21, 2020. They referred to each other as their "soul mates". Born November 1, 1948, in Bristol, PA, he was the eldest son of the late Robert T. McFarland and Jacqueline L. (Lambert) McFarland Koehler. Hugh graduated from Easton High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. After his service, he was employed at Bethlehem Steel and then Bethlehem Contractors from which he retired. In his free time, Hugh enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin as a child. He and his wife enjoyed long car rides exploring the area, antiquing, and dining at various diners. Hugh was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also enjoyed grocery shopping and cooking. Hugh is survived by son, Jamie McFarland, of Nazareth; step-children, Melinda Emery, with whom he resided, Theresa Naska and husband Tom, of Nazareth, Lauralee Hoenisch and husband Roy, of Schnecksville, Harry Emery IV and wife Tammy, of Bath; grandchildren, Abigail Kuhn, Brent Bartholomew, Clare Seibert, Harry Emery V, Madison Naska, and Nicole Castillo; also by five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; siblings, Eloise Travers-Stier and husband Melvin "Chuck", Robin McFarland and wife Carol, Lu Ann Csaszar and husband Alan, Laura Whipple and husband Glenn. He was pre-deceased in death by his son, Jason McFarland. Family and friends of Hugh are invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 220 Washington Park, Nazareth PA 18064. Services will follow at 11:30 AM presided by Pastor Curtis Kemmerer at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
