PHILLIPSBURG, NJ John J. Carmody, age 87, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, Warren Campus. He was born on August 2, 1934 in the Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, New York. He was the son of the late Patrick and Anna (Murphy) Carmody of Phillipsburg, NJ. He and his wife, Jean (Fenty) Carmody, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 30, 2021. After High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years (1952-1958), during the Korean War. John retired from Bankers Trust Company in Manhattan after 38 years of dedicated service. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jean, are his daughter, Christine Gianopulos, and her husband, Nicholas, of Northampton, PA; son, Shawn Carmody, and his wife, Toni (Taiana), of Pohatcong, NJ; grandchildren, Nicholas Gianopulos, Brandon Gianopulos, Alexis Carmody and Katie Carmody; brothers, Patrick Carmody, and Thomas Carmody; as well as many nieces and nephews. John is predeceased, in addition to his parents, by his brothers and sisters, Cornelius Carmody, Margaret (Peggy) Boscia, Noreen Nemetz, and Joseph Carmody. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 924 2nd Ave., Alpha, N.J., and on Saturday January 15, 2022, from 9 to 10 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 10 AM at the funeral home.
