Robert Brodt Obituary

Odessa, Florida- Robert "Bob" Brodt died peacefully Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at The Life Path Hospice Center in Temple Terrace, Florida. Bob, also fondly known as "Red," was born in Martin's Creek, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1935, the son of Hilda (Kessler) and Marvin Peter Brodt. Bob attended Easton High School and graduated with the class of 1953. He joined the Marine Corps and worked at the Metropolitan Edison Energy Company for 37 years. Bob was an avid trap shooter for 30 years winning many awards, medals and trophies for his marksmanship. He was a lifetime member of the Pocono Mountain Slate Belt Shooter Association. He served as an Upper Mt. Bethel township supervisor for 6 years, in addition to being a member of the Masonic Temple of Bangor, Pennsylvania. Bob was also a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stone Church, Pennsylvania. In retirement, Bob and his beloved wife, Bert, traveled the world and the United States in their RV motor home making many friends along the way. He is survived by members of his family including his loving and supportive wife of 60 years, Bertha Brodt (Kobel), his caring children: Robert Peter Brodt, Jr. of Troy, Missouri; Marvin Brodt of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania; and his daughter, Susan Goodman of Dover, New Hampshire. Bob was a loving grandfather to Rachel Dunard of Troy, Missouri and Brianne Brodt of East Bangor, Pennsylvania. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Lilly, Michael, Allison, and William, all of Troy, Missouri. As an only child, he was predeceased by his parents, Hilda (Kesseler) and Marvin Peter Brodt, and his son, David Brodt. He was also predeceased by his grandson's Joseph and Michael Brodt of Troy, Missouri. Many other relatives are deeply saddened by his departure, especially his favorite cousin, Beverly Bevan of Orefield, Pennsylvania. There will be a memorial service to be scheduled at a later date in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to your favorite charity in his honor.

Met Red in about 1979 when he was involved with PSBSA and got me the live-in caretaker job. Worked at Portland with him as well and he was a great guy. His laugh still rings in my mind. Sorry to hear of his passing. I will never forget him.
