PALMER TOWNSHIP William Lewis "Bill" Gaumer, 69, of Palmer Twp., Pa., reached the autumn of his life on September 8, 2021. He passed away in his home as were his wishes. Born on August 11, 1952, in Emmaus, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis and Betty Buchanan Gaumer. Bill was the baker and manager of Strausser Haus of Breads for 17 years. He later was employed at Victaulic where he retired from. He was fortunate to enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening and his special cooking of "Papa G's Good Eats" his whole life, prior to tropping through serious illness. Bill was so very grateful for his neighbors, a family member and lifelong friends whom untiredly helped support him. He always said, "They really take care of me". Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Strausser Gaumer, and his daughter, Melissa Margaret Gaumer, of Warwick, RI, who was the joy of his everyday life. He was a wonderful, supportive father from the day she was born until death he parted. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Gary Strausser; sister-in-law, Melanie Young and her husband, Kyle; mother-in-law, Sandra Strausser; daughter-in-law, Jenna Gaumer; two cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Lehigh Valley Hospice for the great care given to Bill. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 3 P.M. at St. Paul's Third Lutheran Church, 2561 Newburg Rd., Easton, Pa. 18045. Dear Peggy, and family. I was so sorry to hear of Bill´s passing. From high school days, to taking care of him at Sacred Heart a couple of times, and occasionally seeing him at Frank and Cookies, always a smile on his face, and humor in a story or two. May you find comfort, and strength in your memories. Thoughts and prayers to all.

Peggy and Melissa, I would like to offer my condolences for your loss, may you find comfort and peace during this difficult time. Bill was such a great guy, to work with and just to know on a personal level. I enjoyed working with him so much - we had many laughs together. He had a strong work ethic but was always a lot of fun as well and always gave me good advice. I remember after he retired we were out to lunch one day and I was telling him how I wished I could be as good of a gardener as he was because I really wanted to grow tomatoes. A week later two tomato plants were on my back porch when I came home - that sums up so much about him. He will be missed.
