Beatrice R. Rickrode

HANOVER Beatrice R. Rickrode, 95, passed away at Hanover Hospital Thursday, March 3, 2011. She was the wife of Richard H. Rickrode, who died in 1972. Born February 19, 1916, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Vesta (Kitzmiller) Rebert. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Dubs U.C.C., Hanover, Beatrice enjoyed ballroom dancing and shopping. She always dressed her best, and Beatrice had a special knack for spelling any word. She is survived by her daughter, Darla S. Waddell and her husband, Larry of Spring Grove; a granddaughter, Kim Oaster of Florida; a grandson, Kris Oaster of York; a stepgranddaughter, Wendy Bolden; two great-grandsons, Brock Oaster and his wife, Lindsey, and Chase Oaster; one step great-granddaughter, Tiffany Shue; two nieces; and one nephew. In addition to her husband, Beatrice was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Todd and Grace Routson; and one step great-granddaughter, Jo Lynn Shue. Services will be private. There will be no public viewing. Burial will be in St. Paul's Dubs Cemetery, Hanover. Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. will be assisting the family with their arrangements. Mrs. Rickrode's family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hanover Hall Alzheimer's Unit for the love and excellent care that they gave to Mom "Beatie Bird" while she lived there.
