Catherine Sipling Obituary
Glenville - Catherine Margaret (Bankert) Sipling, 78, widow of the late William Henry Sipling, to whom she had been married for more than 51 years and had passed away January 21, 2021, passed away at her home, just about one mile from her place of birth in Manheim Township, York County on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Catherine had been in failing health for most of the last decade with kidney disease.
Born on September 20, 1942 to the late Clinton H. and Pauline E. (Warner) Bankert, she was faithfully cared for by her late husband who worked tirelessly to take her to whatever medical appointments she needed, often were the times she spent at Hershey Medical Center, UPMC in Hanover and Harrisburg, and to dialysis in Hanover, her good husband never complained. Sadly they are now both gone but happily with God.
Catherine is survived by five children, L. Allen Garlick and his partner, Tina Nickle, Wendy Lehman, and her husband, Charles, Jason Garlick and his finacee, Dee Grimes, Colin Sipling and his wife, Ana, and Carla Hardy and her husband, Steven Jr.; nine grandchildren, Ian Whitcomb, Zachary Garlick, Belinda and William Sipling, Timothy & Benjamin Fleischman, Justin Litvin, Abigail Hardy and Steven Hardy, III; three siblings, James D. "Jim" Bankert, Nancy P. Jessee, and her husband, James, and Clinton C. "Bud" Bankert and his wife, Dawn; an aunt, Betty Flickinger; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Dehoff and Shirley Storm.
A memorial service will be held at 9AM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with her son, Colin, officiating.
A visitation for both William and Catherine will follow from 10 to 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover. Following a memorial mass for William, burial for the Siplings will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, PO Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
