David E. Mummert, 94, passed away at York Hospital on March 17, 2016. He was the loving husband of Fairy E. (Ream) Mummert. Together they shared over 70 years of marriage.
David was born in Jackson Township on August 13, 1921 and was the son of the late Emory L. and Lula (Riley) Mummert.
He worked as a Pulp Mill Forman for P.H. Glatfelter Co. in Spring Grove and retired in 1983 after 43 years of service.
He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at P.H. Glatfelter, a member of the Conference Group and a lifelong member of Adams County Fish and Game Association.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved his fruit trees and his vegetable garden.
In addition to his wife, Fairy, he is survived by his son, David Lee Mummert and wife, Gloria Jean of Thomasville; his daughter, Elaine Lauer and husband, Michael of Spring Grove; his grandchildren, Blaine, Brenda, Brian and wife, Angie, Mark and Denise and husband, Jason; his great-grandchildren, Drake and Corrine; his great-great-granddaughter, Miley; and his beloved dog, Buster. He is also survived by his brothers, Marvin and wife, Anna Mae, Glenn and wife, Nancy and Gerald and wife, Sonja; his sisters, Verna Rebert and husband, Stewart, Helen Kraft and husband, John; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Anna Warner.
A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Jay Bohn officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Christ Roth Cemetery in Spring Grove. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
