Dolores Albright Obituary

Dolores R. Albright

Hanover - Dolores R. Albright, 99, of Hanover, long-time resident of Homewood at Plum Creek, entered into God's eternal care on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Born on Tuesday, December 6, 1921, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Genevieve McSherry Reck. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burnell C. Albright, who died in 1976; and two brothers, Rodney and Robert Reck. A 1939 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she attended and graduated from the Thompson School of Business. She was an active lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Dolores was passionate about helping others. Her community service included more than 40 years as a hospital Gray Lady volunteer, 16 years as the volunteer coordinator of the Hanover Meals on Wheels program, service on the Council of Churches, and the Hanover Community Chorus. She was a local President of the AARP and volunteered for decades as an election poll worker.

At Trinity UCC Dolores served as a Deacon, head of the music committee, and a member of the choir for more than 50 years. In 1985 the Exchange Club of Hanover honored her with the Golden Deeds award, presented annually to an outstanding citizen of the Hanover area.

Dolores' compassion and kindness touched everyone she met and she had an amazing number of friends. She enjoyed the company of others, playing cards, walking at the Mall or through the neighborhood, and she was an active traveler. She enjoyed countless bus trips, visited all 50 states, and many foreign nations. She always believed her life was richly blessed.

Survivors include three children, Deanna Noble of Lancaster, Karen Chane and her husband, John, of San Diego, CA, and Randy Albright and his wife, Kim, of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Reggie, Erin, Chris, Ian, and Megan; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sydney, Ben, Braedy, Ashton, Althea, Madeline, and Jackson; and her extended family and many friends.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, services for Dolores will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund of Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA, 17331.

Dolores was such a presence at Trinity Church. She was a friend to everyone, and always had a smile for everyone. She is now singing with the Heavenly Choir. Blessings to her family.

Albright family please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of Delores. Many memories of her at Trinity along with my mother who sang on the choir, and did so many other things that Delores did. After I moved to Homewood, I saw many of you who would regularly visit your mother and thought how lucky she was to have you. Then last March, it all came to a halt. It saddens me to know that families were no longer allowed to have those visits. I know that was the way it had to be, but none the less it saddens me. Delores is now singing with the heavenly Trinity choir, and I hear the sweet sounds when I am at Trinity
